The very unstable weather of July

Cateye BM-45 the best.

Hot Humid cold windy still have been the words of July. Let's not forget the flooding that has been going on. My asthma does not like unstable weather. Anyway, been getting out as much as possible. Really busy at the shop. Been riding mostly on the road cause the trail are a mud pit. It will be a while before we can get out there again.

Riding into the city with the Kids. It was a weird day of winds coming out of the N-NE and as we got closer to Chicago it got cooler. I swear it was in the low 60's. Nice weather but weird for July. Shouldn't it be hot and sticky? Anyway, it was good to do some urban riding. Lots of cars and people. Makes me aprreciate riding in the country even more.

Knowing when to Bail

This morning I was amped up to get out on the carboner again but plans were averted. A strong storm was coming in and I basically ran in front of it at full speed. I barely made it to the shop before all hell broke loose. The young person sitting in that field quickly left the premises after I took the photo. I remember riding in some lightning out in Trans Iowa a few moons ago. It was amazing to see those bolts hit the fields on each side of the road. There was no place to hide except the ditches. Wherever you are, take care in this weather. It's not worth it. Take shelter and wait it out. The road will still be there.

Fat biking in July is a beast

After being on the road bike, the carboner and generally speaking on skinny bikes I decided to get out on the fat bike and do some miles. I did about 30 miles and I was really tired. It was hot out there and the knobby tires buzzed on the road vibrating me to death. I got what you call the full body workout today. I realized that the fat bike rolls better on gravel than on pavement. I noticed the knobbies create a buzz that makes you hands, rear and more hurt. But it was good to change it up. It was good to hurt and get out there with a different machine. Made it to Green Valley and climb that hill half way. I was short on time and i had alread invested 15 miles so far. Got home, ate some cereal and a smoothie and have a bit of zombie mode going on.
thanks for reading,
