Saturday Ride with Jakey La Cruz

Rode with Jakey La Cruz to Palos on a very cold day. I think the temps were around 10 degrees. We never warmed up and it was a sluggish ride. It did feel nice to get on the singletrack in Palos and enjoy the solitude the woods offer.
Keep riding more,

Rode almost 15 miles on the road to get to the trails. It was dang cold.

Breakfast time and also time to tighten a stem that misteriously got loose on us.

Taking a break and drinking some much needed Hot Tea.

Riding time in the Winter

Been enjoying the challenge of being outside. Been enjoying the woods, the canal, the trails, sometimes the road. Been getting used to the cold.

December 1st. Start of the training program

So the Slender Fungus got together and with the help of A.G. we got some ideas on training and general well being. Our goal was to start on Dec. 1st and to start tabulating miles and activities. So, for today I rode down to Palos and met up with A.G. for some singletrack. It was an 11 mile ride to get there and we promptly hit the trails just behind the Coffee House in Ghost town. Ghost town is located on the South-East corner of Archer and Willow Springs. If you don't know where that is you should. Check it out on Google and go there and ride bikes.
We hit the singletrack and it was greasy and we felt bad being on it. We exited asap and got on the road to head south and catch the canal trail just north of the Slough. We rode west then did some manuevering around rte83 with a found sidewalk and then took the double track all the way east again. We then rode the County lane which is gravel and finished the ride at about 4 pm. I then rode home with the skies darkening and the temps dropping. My front brake was a mess and I could not stop it from skreeching. So I undid the two bolts and took the darn thing off. I dropped the whole system in my barmitt.
42 miles for the day on the 29er. I was sore but happy. Thanks to A.G. for coming out.

Turkey Day Ride

Cookie was gracious in making the trip towards us on Turkey day. We loaded up the bikes and headed down for a good day of trail riding in Palos. We arrived there and hit the trails around 920 am. The morning was beautiful and we warmed up very quickly. At some point my hands were boiling and I rode without my gloves. I had my trusty Mariachi and Cookie had decided to bring along his Surly Neckromancer. His bike was literally flying down the trails while my 29er had to pick and choose all day long. We had a great ride with about 4 hours of riding. We enjoyed the fresh air, the great sunshine and the woods in all their glory. We figured out some shortcuts for an extended loop and the Singletrack was just amazing. All trails were dry and fast. I was really happy we got out there. Thanks for the company my friend. Later on we feasted and layed on the couch in a full zombie mode. We were in such comas.
